Haiti - Politic : Chile says no to Desras

Following the letter of Simon Dieuseul Desras, the President of the Senate, sent through the Chilean Ambassador to Haiti, to the Chilean Parliament and in particular his counterpart Jorge Pizarro Soto, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9994-haiti-politicthe-president-of-the-senate-convinced-that-chilean-troops-would-make-the-right-choice-update-6h00-pm.html to ask him in the event of chaos in Haiti, that the Chilean troops took position in favor of the opposition and of the population, the Chilean Chancellor Alfred Moreno has publicly rejected Monday that the Chilean troops detached in Haiti are involved in the internal politics of our country.

"Chile is part of a UN mission. Its function is to work for Peace in Haiti. His work is not political, it is not of a faction or another [...] Our troops are led by the UN [United Nations]," declared the Chilean Chancellor to local reporters, adding "The troops are never intervened and they will never intervene or interfere with internal matters [...] We hope that political differences that exist are resolved in Haiti and in the same way that the institutions are improving and that the laws that allow them to function better be approved."

For its part, the Chilean Deputy Jorge Tarud, a member of the Commission of Foreign Relations of the House has described as "totally unacceptable" the request of the President of the Haitian Senate, noting that the Chilean military involvement in Haiti followed in the context, to a specific request "of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon," and fall exclusively under UN and the international community.
