Haiti - Diplomacy : European Union reiterates its support to the democratic process in Haiti

On Thursday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, met with Javier Nino Perez, the Representative of the European Union (EU) in Haiti, as well as other Ambassadors of the member countries of the Union, accredited in Haiti to discuss of different points of interest within the framework of their cooperation with the country.

During the meeting, Ambassador Nino Perez, who wished to congratulate the President Martelly for the publication of the electoral law, renewed the support of the European Union in the democratic process as an important step towards the establishment of a serene environment conducive to sustainable development.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to review the macro-economic situation and the different performance of the Government, as evidenced by the recent visit report of the International Monetary Fund in Haiti. The Head of Government urged EU countries to remain engaged with Haiti and conveyed the wishes of the Head of State to consolidate the achievements of this cooperation based on friendship and shared values​​.

For his part, Javier Nino Perez, expressed the satisfaction of the EU as to the dialogue engaged with the different sectors and encouraged the exchange of information for mutual understanding between the different actors of the national life "We will remain engaged in the development effort, but also in all matters of mutual interest such as good governance and the rule of law."
