Haiti - Dominican Republic : Former Senator Batista warns against former members of FAd'H

Saturday, former Senator, Oscar Santiago Batista, of the "Dominican Liberation Party" (PLD), the ruling party of the Dominican President Danilo Medina, declared it was vital for the sovereignty and national security, that the security agencies of the State, identify former members of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) [dissolved in 1995 by former President Aristide], which are currently on Dominican territory.

Recalling that the press at the time, stated that a part of the 15,000 members of the Armed Force, had found refuge in the Dominican Republic. He mentioned that in case of conflict with neighboring country, these former military could pose a danger and can be used to perform actions against national integrity "We believe it is appropriate that the security agencies of the Dominican State, have these informations so that we can be more effective if we had to defend our national sovereignty..."
