On Monday, the National Carnival 2014 was officially launched at a press conference at the Ministry of Culture, by the National Carnival Committee accompanied the Mayor of Gonaïves, Steeven Saint Fleur. "Tèt kole pou yon Ayiti pi djanm", is the theme chosen this year for the Carnival to be held from 2 to 4 March 2014 in the city of Independence in Gonaïves.

Josette Darguste, the Acting Minister of Culture announced the list of members of the Committee responsible for organizing the National Carnival 2014 :

President: Grégory Saba, representing of the private sector

Vice-president: Stefan Malebranche, Representative of the Ministry of Culture;

Secretary: Mrs. Maryse Noël, Representative of Ministry of Tourism;

Assistant Secretary: Ms Stéphanie Sant Louis, Representative of the Ministry of Culture;

Treasurer: Albert Chancy, Representative of the public sector;

Assistant Treasurer: Ms.Greatz Marie S. Charles, Representative of the private sector;

Member: Ms. Elsa B. Noël, Representative of the Presidency;

Member: Steeven Saint-Fleur, Mayor of the town of Gonaïves;

Member: Philip Cinéas, Representative of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication Energy;

Member: Jean Michel Auguste, Delegate of the Department of Artibonite;

Member: Réginald Delva, Representative of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

The acting Minister of Culture given the guarantee that the carnival will be a success and noted that the state promises to make available to the Committee, financial, material and logistical resources to the organization of this great cultural event. However the amount of budget the carnival that come from the Treasury and the private sector, has not been disclosed at this conference.

Josette Darguste announced a novelty concerning the pre-carnival festivities to be held alternately in a different city of the department of Artibonite, Sunday January 26, February 2, February 9 and February 16, 2014.

Gegory Saba, announced a visit in Gonaïves of Committee Tuesday to finalize the last points with the authorities of the area before starting work.

For its part, Elsa Baussan, informed that the course will be done on a 2.8 km circuit : Delegation => The street of Dattes => Roundabout police station => Madan Colo => front of City Hall => Street Clervaux => Grand Street => Roundabout street Christophe.

Maryse Noël, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism and Secretary General of the National Carnival Committee, informed that at the level of tourist accommodation, 340 hotel rooms have already been identified for the revelers and some private homes will also be available to visitors.
