Haiti - Sports : Football Tournament in tribute to Hugo Chavez

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action organizes in partnership with the Embassy of Venezuela in Haiti an U17 Football tournament in honor of the former President, Commander Hugo Chavez who passed away March 5, 2013 at the age of 58 years.

Designed to perpetuate the work of Chavez and as a duty of memory, this tournament that will bring together youth teams of Gressier, Carrefour, Delmas and Petion Ville will take place from Saturday 15 until February 26 at the Centre Sportif Dadadou, at Sports Centre Carrefour and at Ste Therese Park of Petion Ville and Parc St Jean de Gressier.

Distributed in the same group, the teams will play a playoff phase to determine the top two teams to compete in a grand finale and the last two for the small final.

The Ministry invites young people to come and support the teams in this tournament and urges them to participate in any other initiative to honor the memory of this leader, who dreamed of transforming the Latin American and Caribbean societies by laying the foundations for a new form of cooperation between the peoples and states of our great region.
