Haiti - Economy : Preparatory mission of the AFD on the framework of public investment in Haiti

The General Directorate of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), this week launched the preparatory review mission of the French Development Agency (AFD), on the framework for investment in Haiti.

This meeting which was attended among others by: Yves Robert Jean, Director General of MPCE, Erold Étienne, Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Jean Marie Chérestal, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, Jadotte Evans, Representative of the World Bank, focused on the finding, of the Haitian authorities, of major dysfunctions affecting public investment and the need to undertake a thorough review of framework of public investment.

This first mission, of two weeks, aims to effectively launch the review, consult all stakeholders and finalize the terms of reference, including the definition of activities, calendars of interventions and the definition of experts profiles necessary for the proper completion of the review.

In addition, Yves Robert Jean stressed the need to have concrete results and the participation of all sectoral ministries in order to collect all the information necessary for the success of this mission. For his part, Jean Marie Chérestal, stressed that the main expected results of the review, remain that defined minima within terms of existing references can only be improved or supplemented by the senior expert who heads the mission.

Other speakers expressed their point of view and are committed that this review of the framework for public investment is a success for the development of Haiti.
