This week, the Strategic Steering Committee (CPS), composed of several Directors General (Budget, General Administration of Customs (AGD), the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI) etc ...), the representative of the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH) and the Presidents of both legislative chambers, held its first working meeting at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

This meeting, whose objective is to oversee the work of the Commission to reform public finance and economic governance, will enable its members to achieve better management to enable the population to better benefit from public spending.

During the first working session was discussed :

• The approval of the mandate of the CPS (operating mode and missions) ;

• The status of the formulation of the strategy for reform of public finances and the three-year action plan ;

• The situation on the launch of the review of the framework of public investment ;

• The appropriateness of a sectoral table "Public Finance and Transparency"

• The role of the partnership framework on budgetary support.

Quarterly meetings will allow the CPS to assess the progress of work on the reform to enable public funds to be used effectively for the benefit of the population.

The need to better regulate the effort to modernize financial management and economic governance brought the MEF to establish a Strategic Steering Committee, which is an instance of orientation, decision-making and supervision of internal and external actions. The CPS has the following functions : put in place a mechanism to ensure the formulation, coordination and monitoring of the implementation of reforms; validate the strategy and action plans of reform of public finances; validate the overall framework of renovation of the economic governance, approve the annual program of activities materializing the modernization effort and results to be achieved, receiving and validating the semiannual reports of implementation of reforms, appreciate the performance achieved under reforms, inform the powers of the state and citizens on the work and progress of planned reforms, ensure the coordination of state intervention and donors supporting the reform process and commissioning a periodic external evaluation of the overall work of reform.
