Haiti - Security : The Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti on the right track

Frerel Normil, Director General of Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) informed us that a preliminary draft law (nearly 160 pages) on marine navigation in Haiti and operation of SEMNANAH, was handed to Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communication for he ensure his follows up to Parliament. In addition, it has also been proposed to transform the SEMANAH in Maritime Authority and Navigation.

Moreover, Frerel Normil, informed that following the efforts in recent months to facilitate and make safer the navigation in Haitian waters, 11 lighthouses dysfunctional had been restored in areas of Lamentin, Caïmite (Grand Anse, Ile-à-Vaches, Côte des Arcadins, Cap La Pierre (Artibonite), Saint Marc, Picolin (Cap Haïtien) and Fantasse.

3 other headlights, which were dilapidated will be rebuilt. The lighthouse of Pointe à Gravois in Port-Salut will soon be inaugurated and the one of Dame Marie, off for 35 years will be returned to service in the shortest time, after the replacement of lanterns. Finally, by the end of the month, lighthouses in the East and the West of Turtle Island will also be put into service.
