Haiti - Social : Artists awarded as part of a competition of wall frescoes

On Thursday, painters evolving in popular neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince as such Savane Pistache, Martissant, Bolosse, Fort Mercredi, Fort National, Carrefour-Feuilles, Cité Soleil were awarded by the Government for their social commitment in their community.

Recall that these creators had participated in a contest for producing wall frescoes with the effigy of Nelson Mandela, as part of the implementation of the special intervention plan of fight against extreme poverty on the occasion of end and New Year festivities. This plan, an initiative of the Office of the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister Responsible for Human Rights and the Fight against Poverty Extreme, carried ​​over a period of six months, also aimed to embellish some neighborhoods.

The first prize was awarded to the artists of "L'Atelier L'Aurore" of ité Soleil, for their commitment to children in their community. The second prize was awarded to the artists of Bolosse. Besides the awards granted by the Office of the Minister Delegate, vouchers offered by Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, were given to artists.

A mini-documentary directed by the young André Filibien on these wall frescoes, was screened at the ceremony awards.
