Tuesday, the Directorate of Project 16/6 proceeded at the presentation of certificates to one hundred members of the 8 community platforms of communes of Pétion-Ville and of Port-au-Prince, who completed the second cycle of training among other things in : organizational management, leadership, conflict management, financial management, development and project management, IT, community mobilization, animation technique realized ​​by the firm GMQ (Qifd Management Group), in the framework of strengthening the capacity of community platforms.

"Launched in June 2012, this training has allowed about a hundred members of community platforms to strengthen their capacity through the selected modules in order to better guide their decisions as community leaders," said Clement Belizaire, the national Project Director.

"Through this training, members of community platforms will be able to conduct high-impact projects for the benefits of their respective areas, what will contribute to sustainable development in neighborhoods," added Katyna Argueta, Deputy Director Programs Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Haiti, adding that "The logic of implementation of the project 16/6 is summarized in the idea, who wants put the population face to its responsibility and work herself to her well-being," welcoming the support of UNDP in the implementation of this project in the neighborhoods, by the rehabilitation component of neighborhoods.

Alongside this ceremony of presentation of certificates, which was attended by municipal authorities and partners involved in the project, officials of 16/6 took the opportunity to officially hand over the keys of the three Community Centres already finalized in Nérette, Morne Hercule and Jalousie, that the platforms will have to manage in the performance of their duties. "These achievements, together with the series of training, will allow the platforms to become more autonomous and independent," indicated Ms. Jolicoeur Yvanca Brutus, Mayor of Petion-Ville, inviting members of platforms concerned to make good use of this new facility.
