Haiti - Tourism : Increase of more than 20% of tourists in Haiti (2013)

According to the latest report of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) regarding the number of tourist arrivals, Haiti recorded in 2013, a growth of over 20%. The increases were highest last summer (+24.8%) than in winter 2013 (+10%) [December -1.6% compared to 2012) while October (47.9%) and November (48.5%) experienced a remarkable growth. Haiti has received in 2013 a total of 419.736 visitors on its territory (according to preliminary figures).

In 2013, the Dominican Republic, remains the most visited Caribbean destination with a total of 4.68977 million visitors (+2.8%); Cuba occupies the second position with 2,850,135 non-residents on its soil in slight increase +0.4%. Jamaica ranks third with more than 2 million tourists (+1.1%). Other destinations such as Saint-Martin (467.259) or Martinique (489,706) also experienced modest growth.

The destinations with a decreasing number of tourists are Barbados (-5.2%) and the Bahamas (-4.1%).

In total, the Caribbean region has hosted 25 million tourists in 2013, against 24.6 million in 2012, according to figures provided by the member countries of the CTO.
