Haiti - Diplomacy : 3rd day of the State visit of President Martelly in Taiwan

Wednesday, at the third day of his State visit to Taiwan (Republic of China), the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by his wife Sophia and of the official delegation went to Taichung, the third largest city of the country, where he visited among others the National Museum of the earthquake of September 21, 1999, the Science Park and the Institute of Agricultural Research.

At the Earthquake Museum of September 21, 1999, who made 2,000 victim, the Haitian delegation was able to see the extent of damage before the remains of destroyed buildings and public buildings, perfectly maintained by the Government of Taiwan, which has made it one of the most visited attractions in the country.

After a visit to the imposing Taichung Science Park, which contributes to the advancement of major scientific and technological research of the Republic of China and the world, the President Martelly undertook a guided tour of the Institute of Agricultural Research, which has allowed him to better understand the progress made by the Taiwanese in the agricultural sector. With Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, and the heads of the institute, the Chief of the Haitian government has discussed of the possibilities to adapt in Haiti some successful methods used by Taiwan, especially in rice production.
