Haiti - Politic : Jacques Edouard Alexis met Carlos Morales Troncoso

Jacques Edouard Alexis, a candidate for the presidency Thursday met Carlos Morales Troncoso, president of the Social Christian Reform Party (PRSC). Together they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. Morales said that the PRSC supports the work of the Interim Commission for the Reconstruction of Haiti (IHRC) "so that Haiti will become institutionally strong state which protects human dignity, fights against the economic difficulties and works on its future with optimism"

"The Reform Party, with its experience of the state is ready to help Haiti. We are ready to share everything we learned during the colossal work carried out by the President Joaquin Balaguer to reforest the Dominican Republic" Morales said during the conversation, adding that if the international community and the Haitian ruling class are betting on the resource investment in free zones, tourism and the implementation of a sustained program of reforestation, while the foundations for a new destination in the neighboring country will be thrown.

From the perspective of Jacques Edouard Alexis, "Haiti and the Dominican Republic should try to maintain a balanced relationship, seeking by every means possible to find solutions to everyday problems and based on a win-win. The future of both countries is linked, even though we are two independent states, we have seen, above all, solidarity with the Dominican people, their leaders and the government has shown commitment to Haiti after the earthquake of January".

Accompanied by Mr Samir Murrah, Chairman of the party "Mobilisation pour le Progrès d’Haïti" (MPH) under whose banner was inscribed Alexis said that the Haitian political class must "approach the political leaders of the Dominican Republic to promote a better understanding between the two nations" adding "with a higher standard of living, Haiti, can help the Dominican Republic to stop the flow of illegal immigration. Thus, the two nations still coexist in an atmosphere of peace".
