Haiti - Social : Demonstration for electricity in Croix-Martyr

Very early Saturday, April 26, the residents of Croix-Martyr (Petit-Goâve) demonstrated on the National Road #2 to require the electrification of their area, located near the city center, blocking for more than 40 minutes, the National Road #2 before dispersing peacefully, following the intervention of the police.

The protesters ask the Deputy Stevenson Jacques Timoléon to meet his campaign promise "[...] He was committed to electrify our community. He must honor its promise [...] We will spend the 2014 World Cup without that Croix-Martyris with electricity [...] it is an injustice we are in the 21st century, we can not live without power. It lacks 12 pylons for our community so that our community has the electricity [...]"

Local residents of Croix-Martyr threaten to continue their movement until satisfaction of their claim stating that "next week, the National road will be blocked permanently..."

Recall that on April 2, hundreds of people demonstrated in the streets of Petit Goâve and blocked for over three hours, the National Road #2, following a power problem and obtained by pressure, a new transformer https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10862-haiti-news-some-news-here-and-there.html
