Haiti - Security : Launch of the Scientific and Technical Coordination on the STHs

At the initiative of the Permanent Secretariat of Risk Management, was held at the Hotel Montana, a launch meeting for the establishment of the "Scientific and Technical Coordination on Seismic and Tsunami Hazards" (CST-RST in french - STC-STH) in the country.

This coordination, which will bring together professionals and partner organizations from diverse backgrounds, will have, mong others, the task to work to the harmonization of actions aiming the formulation and proposal to the government of a national program and an action plan for the reduction of STHs.

The Group for Scientific and Technical Coordination will have also to ensure of the scientific research within the university and public and private partner institutions.

According to a proposal by the initiators, the STC-STH should include representatives of the Ministries and national agencies involved in risk reduction: academics, practitioners, seismologists, engineers, architects, and specialists in risk management and major natural hazards, the Community of donors and the UN system.
