Haiti - Politic : The deputies voted the revised budget law (2013-2014)

Friday at the Lower House the deputies according the benefit of the emergency, voted the 2013-2014 revised budget law (69 votes in favor, 2 against and 3 abstentions), filed on April 23 by Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie the Minister of Economy and Finance https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10994-haiti-economy-tabling-of-the-draft-law-of-revised-budget.html

Remember that this finance law, which was revised down (118 billion Gourdes instead of 131 billion), was rejected in the Senate (7 votes against,6 for and 4 abstentions), September 24, 2013, 6 days after the constitutional deadline, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9521-haiti-economy-the-senate-vote-against-the-finance-bill-2013-2014.html forcing the government to renew the budget of the previous year.

Note that this budget includes the budget envelope for the salary increase for teachers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10992-haiti-education-threat-of-indefinite-strike-the-ministry-of-education-gives-details.html

The finance law ratified by the lower house will now be forwarded to the Senate. Remains whether senators will ratify the budget (which ends on September 30) in the same terms (by law) or adopt a blocking position, as is the case for ratification of amendments to the electoral law unless the Senate bring new changes which would result in a shuttle with the lower house and further delays, to 10 days of the recess for the deputies (2nd Monday of May).
