Haiti - Economy : The President Martelly at the 1st Haitian-American Business Forum

Thursday at Karibe Convention Center, President Michel Martelly, participated in the 1st Haitian-American Business Forum which brought together members of the Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce, Haitian entrepreneurs living abroad and in Haiti and foreign entrepreneurs around the theme "sustainable economic growth through productive investment and trade".

The Head of State welcomed the initiative to put the economy at the heart of concerns and congratulated all those who designed it and made it ​​possible "I am pleased to see that around me, is grouping today the transnational Haitian private sector that supports options of progress, development and general welfare that I promote. This manifest spirit of brotherhood and solidarity of the Haitian business community reinforces my determination to make all the sacrifices so that arise and affirms a welcoming national society for all son of the country."

The Head of State reiterated its commitment to work towards the recognition of the rights of Haitians living outside the country and looked forward of the Haitian diaspora "more than sentimental touches in the place of parents remained in the country, but an intelligent and pragmatic immersion in this movement, which tends to shake the torpor of the group routine."

In addition, the President Martelly said he made the improvement of the overall business environment one of its priorities, in order to stimulate the private sector and make Haiti a destination for foreign investment, recalling that institutional and legal measures already established a regulatory framework to make it more attractive, more competitive the Haitian market for investors.
