Haiti - Sports : Bermane Stiverne «an example for our youth» dixit President Martelly

On Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, has welcomed the victory of Canadian-Haitian boxer, Bermane Stiverne, new World Champion heavyweight WBC (World Boxing Council) on Mexican American Chris Arreola, Saturday, May 10, at USC Galen Center, Los Angeles, California, in front of over 4,000 spectators. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11126-haiti-boxing-haitian-born-canadian-bermane-stiverne-wins-heavyweight-world-title.html

"I pay tribute to this outstanding sportsman that is Bermane Stiverne. His achievement will serve as an example for our youth. I am very happy for this consecration and I warmly congagulates the new champion for his performance and historical title, he has won.

Bermane Stiverne is a model. On my own behalf, on behalf of the Government and the Haitian people as a whole I said Congratulations! We are all very proud of him," declared the Head of State.

Born 1 November 1978 in La Plaine-du-Nord (Cap-Haïtien), Bermane Stiverne, who grew up in Montreal, has achieved what no other boxer of Quebec had done before him, by winning the title of WBC world champion (World Boxing Council) in the queen category heavyweights.
