Haiti - Social : Petit-Goâve, without electricity for debt issues

The city of Petit-Goâve is without electricity for several days. According to reports, a shortage of fuel, for reasons of debt, is the cause of this situation.

Wednesday evening, Luc François aka "Louco", a well known notable of Petit Goâve confirmed on Radio Préférence FM these informations "The problem of electricity in Petit Goâve will not be resolved in the immediate [...] Perhaps next week, the city could be supplied with electricity again, it is a debt issue that is at the origin of Black-out..."

Explaining that the company Haytian Tractor, which is responsible for providing electricity to the city off its engines, for lack of fuel supply due to a debt of 13 million U.S. dollars to its supplier UNASA, which interrupted its deliveries to Haytian Tractor.

On the other hand in this case, the Haitian government, owes about 40 million U.S. dollars to Haytian Tractor, which supplies electricity to EDH.

So that the power problem can be solved, "Louco" believes that the Haitian government must pay its debts to Haytian Tractor which in turn will be able to pay its debts to the UNASA. If the State does not pay its debts, Haytian Tractor can not restore power in Petit-Goâve.
