Haiti - Politics : Victor Benoit denounces government maneuvers

Victor Benoit, one of the leaders of the Platform Alternative (which does not formally participate in the presidential election of November 28) denounced the replacement by the government, of several delegates and vice-delegates these last days.

Although these changes are legal, "they come at a time where President Rene Preval does it all, to allow his party to win elections fraudulently" said the leader of the Platform. For his part, Jacques Edouard Alexis, presidential candidate, last Friday had judged "late these changes" in government delegations, and remember that he had done everything when he was prime minister, to bring the head of state to make these changes [which has not been done].

For Victor Benoit, it's a "maneuvers of Preval type", outrageous considering that the head of state should establish its supporters to important positions of public administration under the pretext of reform. For Benoit, there is no doubt that "the ultimate goal is to control the electoral process in the country's political tradition."

Victor Benoit announced that the opposition, which according to his words, "is being strengthened," will soon organize a major conference attended by several civil society actors to provide "a unified response" to " maneuvers of President Preval".
