Thursday as part of a 48-hour visit to Boston, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11294-haiti-politic-laurent-lamothe-in-working-visit-to-boston.html , Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by Mrs. Florence Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Public Health, Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education and representatives of the non-governmental organization "Zanmi Lasante" participated in the Rectorat of the University of Harvard, to a working lunch in order to find sustainable solutions to the health problems faced by the Haitian population, including cholera and chikungunya epidemics.

An opportunity for the Head of Government, to reiterate the commitment of the Government Martelly to work for the establishment of a Basic Health Care system in favor of the poorest in the 10 departments of the country. The discussions allowed the Haitian delegation to present a cross-cutting project around priorities that are health, education and the economy.

This holistic vision, welcomed the Prime Minister, will facilitate the integration of our various governmental actions, whose the Education Program Free, Compulsory and Universal (PSUGO). For her part, the Minister Guillaume Duperval pleaded in favor of a transport system capable of supporting efficiently the chain of distribution of drugs throughout the country, at lower cost, to discourage unauthorized distributors.

In addition, Dr. Paul Farmer of Partners in health ("Zanmi Lasante") has responded to this project by stating that the University Hospital of Mirebalais, should definitely incorporate this national Basic Health Care system stating that "no one around this table have doubt on the feasibility of an integrated Basic Health Care program for the poorest in Haiti," according to the will of the administration Martelly/Lamothe to make the preferential option for the poor, his highest priority.
