Tuesday in Les Cayes (South), the President Michel Martelly, in the presence of the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population, Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Max Rudolph Saint Albin, Director General of the Office of Workers' Compensation Insurance, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) and the Ambassador of Taiwan in Haiti, Mr. Tsai Chiu Hwang, officially proceeded to the commissioning of the new hospital OFATMA as well as the inauguration of the pediatric and maternity services of the Hospital Immaculate Conception (HIC).

This modern hospital, the third of its kind after those of Cap-Haitien and Port-au-Prince, achieved through the Haitian-tawainaise cooperation has 50 beds, 5 consultation rooms (Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Obstetrics / gynecology and internal medicine); Two operating rooms, a sterilization room; a fully equipped maternity; an emergency room; patient areas; radiology, sonography, laboratory and pharmacy services. The facilities offered by the hospital include parking for 50 vehicles and a heliport.

"This third Hospital of OFATMA, located in Les Cayes, shows my determination to make each day more evident, the concept of health for all in Haiti, because I think that is how this will be maintained in health, enterprising and hardworking the population, whose the Haiti of tomorrow will need," declared the Head of State, inviting Ambassador Tsai Chiu Hwang to convey its appreciation to President Ma Ying-jeou and the Taiwanese people.

For herpart, Ms. Sophia Martelly, for whom health care is a priority, expressed her satisfaction for the new hospital, which will facilitate a better flow in access to health care in the southern metropolis.

The Head of State then inaugurated, pediatric and maternity services to the Immaculate Conception Hospital in Les Cayes (HIC). This is a maternity with an effective capacity to respond effectively to the needs of pregnant women and a pediatric service. "These two achievements enhance the prestige of the largest Care Centre of the Department of South and closer it of inherent characteristics in its capacity as a referral hospital," declared the President Martelly, who reiterated his commitment to increase the health infrastructure in the country.

In addition, the Head of State, announced that his team is currently working on anational emergency helicopter system in order to help people in the most remote corners of the country.
