Haiti - Economy : Very nice initiative to Petion-ville

The first cart for display and sell fruits and vegetables, an initiative of social organizations "Fanm Vanyan nan marigo" and "Fanm nan demokrasi", supported by the city of Petion-ville, have been deployed in many streets in Pétion-Ville.

This initiative received the encouragement of the Mayor of Petion-Ville, Yvanka Jolicoeur Brutus, which, by this action, wants to provide mentoring to small merchants and has several objectives: to enable them to exhibit and sell their products in the best hygienic conditions; increase the income of these merchants and promote local production.

At the moment, only 10 carts are deployed in the streets in Petion-Ville, a small number compared to the objectives of the Mayor "We will launch calls everywhere, looking for sponsors to be able to extend this initiative in almost every street of Pétion-Ville," affrimed vanka J. Brutus. Sixty other carts are provided, as soon as the private sector and sponsors will understand the need to invest in this ambitious initiative.

Currently, these carts are particularly visible on the streets: Vilatte, Metellus, Clervaux, Rigaud, Chavannes, Gabart and Faubert.

For her part one of the initiators of this project, Roznie Gustave, the head of the organization "Fanm Vanyan nan Marigo" indicated that she would get in touch with the sellers of fruit and vegetables of Southeast of the country, to encourage them to come and sell their products in Pétion-Ville.
