Haiti - Security : 53rd promotion of Inter Defence College

On Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, left the country to Washington DC, USA, to attend the graduation ceremony of the 53rd promotion of Inter Defence College. 55 participants from 15 countries, including 4 Haitian executives, have acquired a thorough knowledge of regional and global issues, of the structure and functions of the Inter-American System as well as the main challenges of defense and of security to which are faced their country, the region and the world.

In addition, Wednesday, the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the President of Haiti, Michel Martelly, in his office in Washington DC. During the meeting, the Secretary General and President Martelly discussed the advances made in the Caribbean country, the preparations for the 2015 General Assembly of the Organization, to be held in Haiti, and the current regional political context.

Were also present at the meeting were the Foreign Minister of Haiti, Duly Brutus; the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin; the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Hugo de Zela; the Interim Representative of Haiti to the OAS, Bocchit Edmond; and the Coordinator of the Program for Universal Civil Identity in the Americas (PUICA) of the OAS, Steven Griner, among others.

President Michel Martelly will be back in Haiti, Thursday, June 26, 2014.
