Haiti - Politic : Senator Desras relaunch the crisis

While last week, Dieuseul Simon Desras, President of the Senate leaving a little hope on the upcoming ratification of amendments to the Electoral law by stating "Once completed the Council, the Senate will consider the amendment of the electoral law", here on Monday, Senator Desras made once again a volte face claiming that Me Anel Alexis Joseph, President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) let himself be manipulated by the Executive in the appointment of their new representative to the Provisional Electoral Council what would not be reassuring.

In addision, Senator Desras also says that all decisions taken so far by the CEP, are illegal, such as the appointment by contest of executives and staff of the Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) and Communal Electoral Offices (BEC) and urges advisers of the CEP to suspend all activities under penalty of prosecution for usurpation of title and function [!], a warning which follows a press release from Senator, dated July 11, where he stated "While the composition of the CEP does not comply with the requirements of the Constitution and law, all actions of advisers currently in office, marked with the seal of the informal and arbitrary, are deemed null and void."

He announced tough times, calling his fellow parliamentarians to prepare for a tough battle against the Government, which should begin according to him before the close of the last session of the 49th Legislature next month, remaining convinced that "the Executive do not want an election but the end of the mandate of the deputies and senators."

A volte face that is not be a surprise for no one, knowing that it is also the Senator Desras that after the signing of the agreement El Rancho by the Parliament denied the signature and affirmed not be concerned by that agreement. It is also the Senator Desras who said, not fearing the paradoxes, at the forum on the interparty cooperation organized from 27 to 29 June 2014 under the auspices of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy, that the current problem of parties policies "is their inability to interact, build agreements, to implement, to respect, to mobilize behind a common project to identify consensual objectives to be pursued."
