Haiti - Agriculture : Inauguration of a dairy in La Montagne (Vallue)

Sunday, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development participated in the inauguration of a Dairy Centre in La Montagne (Vallue, 12th communal section of Petit Goâve).

This dairy, which is an initiative of the Association of Peasants of Vallue (APV) was welcomed by the Minister, who is convinced that such activities, consistent with the Government's policy, which is to work on strengthening the local milk production and ensure its promotion.

According to the Minister Jacques, every year more than 50 million dollars are spent on the import of dairy products. The new dairy will help reduce imports stressed the Minister, recalling that his ministry had already allowed the establishment of more that 50 dairies across the country.

For Abner Septembre, the coordinator of the APV, this airy will greatly contribute to boost the economy and strengthen the sustainable development of Vallue. "Today I want the support of the State, but an institutional support for this experiment can be sustainable, aid promised by the Minister Jacques."

Note that this dairy was built thanks to the financial support of the Rotary Foundation, Lyon Haiti Partnerships and Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (Fokal).

Pierre Louis Michel, the President of the Management Board of the FOKAL, welcomed the inauguration of the dairy of La Montagne, which is sure to be an element of development for the whole community.
