Haiti - Health : Mobile clinic and equipment donation in island of La Gonave

Friday, the First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly, accompanied by Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population, went to La Gonave where she visited among others the where she visited Anse-à-Galets and of Pointe-à-Raquette.

During her visit to the Hospital Wesleyan of Anse-à-Galets, the First Lady gave the keys of an ambulance to the Director General of this institution, Daniel Bertrand, asking him to make good use of the ambulance which must serve the entire population without exception "Health is paramount. Hence my presence here. I give you this ambulance and urge you to make a good maintenance, to allow the entire population to benefit."

Moreover, during the day, the First Lady held a mobile clinic in Pointe-à-Raquette (her third visit), 161 people (108 adults and 53 children) received free treatment and medicines at the occasion of the St. Louis King of France. Some patients whose records required a thorough medical follow-up were supported.

In addition, Sophia Martelly donated to the community 2 motorcycle ambulances to reach the most remote areas of Pointe-à-Raquette.

The residents of these two communal sections, enthusiastically welcomed the approach of the wife of the Head of State, which allowed them to make a quick medical check and hoped that the First Lady continues to accompany in the country, the most vulnerable populations.
