Haiti - Sports : Basketball player Dwight Howard in Haiti Friday

The American basketball player Dwight Howard should visit Haiti on Friday in solidarity with the victims of the earthquake of 12 January. The Haitian Olympic Committee (COH) is organizing this visit in collaboration with its partners: Peace and Sport, the United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC).

Through its charitable foundation, Dwight Howard has to support Haitian children victims of the earthquake and are living in various camps throughout the affected areas.

The player of Orlando will visit to 1h30pm an IDP camp located at the park ACRA, Delmas 30, where he will meet with children participating in the emergency program's of Haitian Olympic Committee (COH).

Dwight Howard has studied and played at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, a private school known for the quality of its basketball team. During his time, Howard has totaled 2,146 points, 1,728 rebounds and 811 blocks (averages of 16.6 points, 13.4 rebounds and 6.3 blocks per game). He has received numerous awards including the title of best high-school player of the year 2004.

Recall that before the visit of Dwight Howard, several international champions [Emmanuel Petit, Lionel Messi, Stephane Diagana and Christian Karembeu] of different disciplines have already visited those children living in IDP camps. Christian Karembeu had even spent several hours just training [play] with the children.
