Haiti - Justice : All vehicles without a sticker will be confiscated

The Government Martelly/Lamothe steps up fight against smuggling, corruption, illicit trafficking and tax evasion. To this end, the "task force" anti-corruption, established in 2012 on the instructions of Prime Minister Lamothe, has adopted new provisions.

Wednesday at the Primature, at a press conference Fresnel Jean Baptiste, the Director General of Customs, presented the actions of this structure, including the seizure of several trucks during the searches conducted by anti-smuggling agents.

Under Article 234 of the Customs Code that authorizes the seizure of vehicles involved in acts of corruption and contraband and Article 235 which gives the right to Customs to sell the content and the seized vehicles, Fresnel Jean Baptiste said that the law will be applied and that from Saturday, September 13, all vehicles seized for more than six months will be sold at public auction.

Moreover, Miradin Morlan, the Deputy Director General of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) announced that it is now ordered the officers of the Directorate of Traffic and Traffic Police to confiscate vehicles in circulation who do not have the sticker required by the DGI for the last two fiscal years.

All persons who have not paid their vignette (sticker) during this month will have to pay three years of sticker from October 1, "We urge all car owners to take responsibility, otherwise the law will be applied against them. "

Recall that the "task force" anti-corruption is composed of 18 Government Commissioners and various Directorates General, including the General Administration of Customs (AGD), the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), the Control Unit and Financial information (UCREF) and the National Police of Haiti (PNH).
