Haiti - Politic : La Chapelle on the road of development

In the concern to get closer to the population and to listen their grievances, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, met Friday with local authorities, members of organizations of farmers, community groups and social movements of La Chapelle (commune of the department of Artibonite) around the issues faced by the commune, n the areas of health, education infrastructure, urban renewal and agriculture "[...] It is our responsibility to be attentive to the grievances of the people of La Chapelle to define an action plan. We can not solve everything, but with our limited means, we'll do our best," assured the Prime Minister.

It was agreed of the establishment of a commission whose mission is to reflect on the development plan for La Chapelle which willl participate in the next Council of Government to explain the situation and the needs of the community.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister promised to work on the construction of the municipal market, the enclosure of the cemetery, laying adoquins of Louverture street and accelerating grid in progress in the commune.

As part of the Government's social dialogue with representatives of La Chapelle, the Ministry of Agriculture has distributed three irrigation pumps, three tillers, 100 bags of beans, 600 shovels, 600 hoes, 600 axes and 100 wheelbarrows. The Prime Minister announced that the government will also provide the commune with : 2 motorcycles, 200 seed kits, 600 bags of fertilizer, 20 goats, 3 and 10 digital tablets Surtabs (assembled in Haiti) and 20 phones.

Furthermore, he committed to make available to youth of La Chapelle a computer lab, stating that computers are already available and it only remains to identify the local to install this laboratory. Finally, kitchen equipment for school canteens and five scholarships were also promised.

At the end of the day, the Prime Minister visited the National School of La Chapelle, where 315 school kits to a total of 1,000 were distributed to students.
