The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will celebrate the International Day of Peace around the theme "Youth for Peace and Development".

This celebration will open at the Stade Sylvio Cator, Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 9:00 am, in the presence of Minister Evans Lescouflair. Among the activities planned: relay race with youth U17 (under 17) and U20 (under 20), charity match with young people from various camps of the Metropolitan Area of Port-au Prince, an exhibition of photographs by young people from IDP camps, cultural events and musical based on the central theme of the Day.

By this celebration, the MJSAC, the UNFPA and the UNDP have several aims:

• To cause in the young people the spirit of tolerance, acceptance of others and live together.

• Educate youth about the virtues of peace, fair play, understanding and mutual support.

• Emphasize the importance of peace and bring young people to make resolutions to work for peace.

• Providing young people with healthy activities and events marked the corner of friendliness, respect and non-violence.

The International Peace Day is observed annually as a day of global cease-fire and non-violence, during which all nations and all peoples are invited to cease hostilities.

By issuing this day in 2001, at the time of her 55th ordinary session, the United Nations General Assembly had indeed engaged "all the States Membres, the organizations of the United Nations, the non-governmental regional organizations and the individuals to celebrated as it is appropriate the International Day of Peace, including by means of activities of education and sensitizing, and to work, in liaison with the United Nations Organization, with the establishment of a world cease-fire".

9h00-9h45 : Youth Relay Race. Course: Former Air France local to stadium (2000m)

10h00-11h00 : Football Match (Inter-camp teams selected by MJSCAC. Socio-Cultural Animation by group "Tchaka Danse"

Walk for the Peace by the Bel Air young people until the stadium

10:40- 10:50 : Arrival of Minister (or his representative) of Youth and Sport, representatives of the United Nations

11h00-11h10 : Presentation of Resolutions of youth for peace in the Greater Bel Air

11:10-11:20 : Short speech of the Mayor of Port-au-Prince

11:20-11:30 : Short speech of the Representative of the FNUAP

11h30-11h40 : Short speech of the Representative of the UNDP

11h40-11h50 : Short speech of the Special representative of Secretary General of the United Nations (TBC)
