Haiti - NOTICE : Painful increases in fuel prices

In a joint statement signed by Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance and Wilson Laleau, Minister of Commerce and Industry "notify the general public, distributors and consumers of petroleum products in particular, that from Friday, October 10, 2014 prevailing prices in the country will be as follows :

Gazoline 95 : 215 Gourdes (+ 15 Gdes : 7.5%)

Gasoil : 177 Gourdes (+15 Gdes : 9.27%)

Kerosene : 171 Gourdes (+ 10 Gdes : 6.3%)

These Ministries recall that since the decision to apply the law of 6 March 1995 on the rights of variables Excise, different variations in product prices in the domestic market were recorded from January 1 to date."

This first increase ringing the signal of the phasing out of subsidies that cost billions gourdes each year to the Government. After these first increases and unless the policy change, it is expected in the coming months :

For gasoline to an increase to 228 gourdes between December 14 and January 15 to reach 243 gourdes between March and September 2015.

For the diesel (gasoil) it should increase in January to 184 gourdes to reach 192 gourdes in March 2015.

For kerosene, it should increase to 179 gourdes in December before reaching 185 gourdes in March 2015.
