Haiti - Politic : Venezuela grants 200 scholarships for Haitian youth

On Tuesday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, co-chaired, with the Venezuelan Chancellor Rafael Ramirez, an important working meeting during which they reviewed the various projects executed in Haiti, with funding from the Petrocaribe program, including among other: road infrastructure, urban renewal, the national social assistance plan "Ede-Pèp", social housing.

Venezuelan Chancellor, for his part, welcomed the unprecedented progress recorded in Haiti "The Government Martelly/Lamothe gave the country a new impetus. We see that much progress has been made in rebuilding the country. Also, we want to ensure the Haitian Government of the Venezuela's commitment to continue to assist them in building their future."

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Lamothe, began his second day of work with the Venezuelan delegation. At a press conference given this morning, the Prime Minister announced a workshop at the hotel Kinam with Venezuelan officials to continue discussions to strengthen the Haitian-Venezuelan cooperation, which has already facilitated the execution of 275 projects in various priority sectors for the Haitian government.

"I once again greet Venezuelan cooperation because it is one of the most important cooperation. Venezuela is one of the few donors to Haiti whose funds going directly to the Haitian government and allow us to carry out projects in favor of the population. So it is important that this cooperation based on mutual respect and solidarity strengthens and improves more," declared the Head of Government who announced the granting by Venezuela of 200 scholarships to Haiti.

At the end of the workshop, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor Rafael Ramirez will visit, among others, the Place Boyer, Bowenfield site, Delmas 2, where will be built the new center residential, commercial and socio-cultural as well as neighborhood Jalousie, in Petion-Ville, where works of urban renewal are performed.

A Haitian delegation will soon travel to Venezuela to share his experiences with the Venezuelan authorities in the framework of community restaurants.
