Tuesday at the call of the consultation table, that brings together the political forces of the radical opposition, yet another anti-government demonstration will take place in Port-au-Prince and several provincial cities, to demand the departure of the regime. In Port-au-Prince the demonstration will depart as usual from the ruins of the old St. John Bosco Church, in the popular neighborhood of Bel-Air.

In a NOTICE, Jean Renel Sanon, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, reiterated his faith in the country's Constitution and laws of the Republic and reminds street protests organizers that they must be absolutely peaceful.

"It is strictly forbidden to individuals taking part to the said demonstrations of carrying firearms, blunt weapons, machetes, knives or other objects of the same type.

Anyone caught in a demonstration in possession a weapon of any kind will be disarmed and that, regardless of the body or band to which it belongs. The police will ensure that these provisions, taken to protect the population against malicious actions of criminals, are scrupulously respected."

While recalling that the National Police of Haiti is the only entity designated by the law and the Constitution to ensure peace and order during public demonstrations, the Ministry of Justice reiterates to all protester or not, "his firm commitment to ensure everyone a safe environment, safe and quiet and the possibility of go about their business without any worry."

Also on Monday, the eve of this demonstration, whose date coincides with the beginning of the fortnight in favor of the protection of human rights, Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Haiti recalled that "Freedom of peaceful protest and freedom of expression are rights guaranteed by international conventions, enshrined in the Haitian Constitution and supported by the law," stressing that "the exercise of the right to demonstrate and freedom of opinion is a sign of the consolidation of democracy in Haiti and efforts must be made to both sides to avoid any recourse to violence, defamation, intimidation of all kinds, or acts that may contribute to disturb the peace and stability [...] it is up to all to reject violence in all its forms to move towards a stronger Haiti, stable and respectful of the rights of each and every."
