Haiti - Economy : Promoting entrepreneurship and encourage the middle class

Monday at the Best Western, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Wilson Laleau, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Jean François Thomas, Minister of Environment, attended the official launch of the Group "Haïti Chérie" whose vision is to promote entrepreneurship and encourage the middle class.

Composed of a dozen of entrepreneurs : Shérif Abdallah, Marc-Antoine Acra, Reuven Bigio, Kerly Blain, Christopher Handal, Stanley Handal, Gaëtan Jérôme, Steeve Khawly, Jean Lucien Ligondé, Franck Romain Jr., Réginald J.M. Vorbe, and Allan Zurai, this Group intends to contribute to the social, economic and political stability of Haiti by supporting, to start, twenty small businesses through a fund of 4 million gourdes put available to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

In his speech, the Head of State declared "I welcome this noble initiative of the private business sector through the group 'Haiti Chérie'. I sincerely hope that other businessmen follow this example of unity for the Haiti progress."

On this occasion, the President Martelly reiterated his commitment to support all those who in one way or another, pose actions that can help improve the living conditions of the Haitian people.
