In the early hours of the morning, hooded individuals, closed the border gate on the Haitian side, throwing stones and bottles in the Dominican Republic.

The door was reopened later in the morning, but the buyers few in number have not ventured beyond the market of of the Ouanaminthe Haitian community to acquire goods what affected traders on both sides of the border.

This situation adds to the blocking of roads, since Thursday at the junction of Fort-Liberté and Marfetí, which prevents large buyers and sellers of Cap-Haitien and other northern areas of Haiti to reach the border to conduct transactions on the market.

According to Fernando Diaz, President of the Association of Dominican sellers, this has caused significant economic losses to traders in both countries.
