Haiti - Security : A car plunges into Lake Azuei, 4 young victims...

Sunday, in Fonds Bayard in the commune of Ganthier (west of Haiti), an car wash known as Ti Pòpòt, after washing the car of a customer, decided to take the car for a ride with five of his friends.

It is on the road towards Malpasse that the brakes failed and the vehicle ended its course in the waters of Lake Azuei.

According to the testimony of residents, Ti Pòpòt who was driving the vehicle and Mestherne one of the passengers, who knew how to swim could reach the shore healthy and sound.

Officers from the sub police station of Fonds-Parisien, firemen and soldiers of the Minustah intervened to try to save the lives of other passengers. They were able to tow the vehicle but unfortunately, four passengers remained prisoners in the car, have drowned, they are : Marie Lénie Jean Baptiste (12), Jacquenel Jean (18), Léonel Louis (18) and Gésimète Louis (22).

"This is a bad practice of car washers [...] They always have fun o go with the vehicles assigned to them," lamented a resident of Fonds Bayard.
