In his New Year message, Simon Dieuseul Desras, President of the Senate and of the National Assembly began by salute the entire population on behalf of Dessalines, Christophe and Pétion "three light that illuminate the Nation, that guides it on the path of love, peace and unity, they gave a country, a history, a fatherland, where brother and sister are under the flag of freedom, of our rights, our claims so that we live well in the sharing of resources, with respect for the other.

The people are standing, it took the street, it said there is no justice, work and peace, life. The country is plunged into insecurity, in hunger, in the instability, the Constitution is not respected, each do not trust others."

Recalling that many actors responsible for this mess are only playing instead of solving the crisis, the Senator continued "Today, before the danger threatening the people [...] faced with a situation twhere there is no willingness to consider the public interest, it is the interests of the belligerents that counts, it is not the agreement they seek [...] these are not serious things which are resolved, these are children's games, that's why there was no Christmas truce in this battle.

We say as representatives of the people: we are not of those who lead the country to the slaughter," requiring major players to take over and not stay in anger, recalling that it is the population that suffers and that if "we descend even lower, we will not have the means and resources to go up. In the energy loss in the loss of dignity, loss of time the country will continue to backtrack.
