Haiti - Economy: The Minister Laleau dialogue with transport unionists

Tuesday, at the request of Wilson Laleau, the new Minister of Economy and Finance, a meeting was held at the Ministry with unionists of the Sector Land Transport Haitian (STTH) to define a framework on the functioning of the transport system and the mechanisms put in place to modernize it.

The unionists agreed on the need to work by agreement with the Ministry through a special commission created for this purpose, around different scenarios for a gradual and final resolution of the problems that the land transport sector faces. Follow-up meetings are planned throughout the week.

Recall that last Friday, the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti (APCH) launched an 8-day ultimatum to the Government to it proceeds to a lower in prices of petroleum products in the country, if not the APCH threat to begin an indefinite strike in public transport, until satisfaction of its claims. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13016-haiti-economy-the-apch-issued-an-ultimatum-to-the-government.html
