Haiti - Education: 45 new buses DIGNITE

Tuesday at the National Palace, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, accompanied by Prime Minister, Mr. Evans Paul, proceeded symbolically to the official presentation of fifty school buses to the authorities of the ten departments of the country. This additional amount will facilitate the free transport of 100,000 schoolchildren more throughout the country.

Were present among others, the Ministers of Economy and Finance, Mr. Wilson Laleau, of National Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Nesmy Manigat, Communication, Mr. Rothchild François Junior and the Executive Director of the Company Dignité, Mr. Castro Arboîte.

The Head of State that welcomed this realization, asked the Honorary Consul of South Korea, Mr. George Mangonès, to convey his thanks to the authorities and South Korean people. This friendly country has greatly supported this initiative which cost $ 5 million.

"I applaud the efforts of the government of South Korea which made possible this noble achievement," declared the Head of State.

"We are currently building a State that goes entirely to the service of the population. Education is the surest path to lead the country towards sustainable development," recalled the President Martelly.

"It is an honor for us to deliver these buses that will strengthened the education system in the country. School transport is one of the measures that my administration took to allow children to go to school without difficulties. One of the objectives of free school transport policy of the government is to develop solidarity among all children in the country," declared President Martelly.

These buses were distributed by department as follows: Southeast (3 buses), Grand Anse (3 buses), Artibonite (5 buses), South (3 buses), Northwest (2 buses), North (6 buses ), Northeast (3 buses) Nippes (3 buses), Centre (3 buses), West (14 buses).

The President of the Republic has asked the Director General of the company DIGNITE to properly maintain these buses, so they can continue to provide students with effective services. On behalf of the school sector, representatives of the ten departments congratulated the Head of State and promised to ensure that school buses are well managed by the concerned.
