Monday, the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL) receives a large delegation of "NOW Insitute" of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) for the presentation and launch of the book "Haiti NOW" (written in French and english). Speakers : Eui-Sung Yi, Director of the Now Institute, economist Kesner Pharel and architect Frederick Mangonès.

"Haiti NOW" is a book of 700 pages with various reflections, infographic data and statistics on the country's reality according to six major themes: built environment, natural environment, infrastructure, people and culture, government, history, economy, a work started in Haiti in 2012, two years after the January 2010 earthquake.

"Our hope was to undertake a multifaceted investigation of the history of Haiti, anchored in its revolutionary foundation, and use it to better understand the integrative nature of the present conditions of the Nation," wrote Thom Mayne, founder-President of Now Institute.

"The research provided in this book [...] provides a collective overview of the urgent and pressing relevance of Haiti to current urban planning discussions on the themes of long lasting, durability and resistance," written for his part Eui-Sung Yi, Director of the Now Institute.

Six Haitian intellectuals have written essays in this book : Hervé Sabin, Frédérick Mangonès, Jean W. Weiner, Michèle D. Pierre-Louis, Nadège T. Clitandre and Kesner Pharel.
