Haiti - Flash : Two Dominican police officers gunshot wounded by a Haitian

Sunday afternoon, a Haitian responding to the name of Wilber Nicholas, drunk was arrested for disturbing public order and leads to detachment of Gualey, National District, to be placed in a cell.

According to the preliminary police report, this is when he arrived at the Detachment of Gualey that Wilber Nicholas, stealing a Taurus 9mm pistol to a guard, opened fire without reason, on the Sergeant Angomas Valdez who was going to a cell to look for another detainee, wounding him in the lumbar region before taking flight while shooting in several directions, fortunately without hurting other people...

Following this bloody action, Captain Juan Francisco Beriguete, has pursued the fugitive. In contact with Nicholas Wilber, Captain Beriguete was wounded by a bullet in the right leg by the Haitian. Despite his injury, the captain was able to shoot the fugitive, wounding him and capture him.

The two injured police officers were taken to hospital where their life is not in danger. Wilber Nicholas was treated and will be presented to the court as soon as possible. An investigation is initiated by the competent authorities to reconstruct the details of the chronology of events. Several witnesses were interviewed in this case which can only have a negative impact on the image of our compatriots living in the Dominican Republic.
