Simon Desras believes itself in pole position

Former President of the Senate Simon Desras Dieuseul is a candidate for the presidency, "We are in consultation with several political platforms to find a legal banner. But what is clear is that I'm running for president [...] I evaluated my strength on the ground [...] I think that there is no other name to the pole position than me."

Moïse could be a candidate for the presidency

WWithin the platform "Pitit Desalin" former Senator Jean Charles Moise has already shown interest and could potentially represent his party in the presidential election. The platform intends to proceed by primary for some positions and by consensus in cases where there is only onepretender, according to Assad Volcy.

126 political entities at the next election

After the consolidation of several political organizations into platforms, the number of political entities authorized to take part in elections goes from 166 to 126. Problem of size of the ballot

With 126 political entities, Mosler Georges, the Executive Director of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) said he expected a high number of applicants for all positions "It's a delicate situation insofar as much you have candidates, as much the ballot must to be larger [...]"

noting that the CEP had made predictions on the basis of the 2006 presidential election when there were "45 presidential candidates [...] That is why we are starting to think about the size of ballots and the minutes"...

Mirlande Manigat wants the departure of President Martelly

In a reflection note, Mirlande Manigat of the "Gathering of National Progressive Democrats (RDNP) indicates on the issue of the current fate of President of the Republic "I continue to believe that it is better that he does not complete its mandate in order to release this space-time that remains until February 7, 2016. But I appeal to his patriotism to cease to be a part of the national problem and for he rather associates with the solution. We were competitors there 4 years. Currently, ignoring the past, we can find ourselves as citizens concerned about the future of the Nation."

Beginning of the registration of candidates (Senator and deputies)

Monday, April 6, CEP began with the registration process of candidates for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. However, all candidates must first pre-register online before filing their documents in a BED of the department constituency or they covet. For the executive director of the CEP, the pre-registration allows political organizations to have control over their candidates, as it is their exclusive responsibility, to register their candidates online.
