Haiti - Social : «Singing brings Peace» dixit Enrico Macias

During his tour in Haiti, in the framework of the campaign "Ann chwazi lapè" (Choose Peace) of the United Nations Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), singer and renowned French musician, Enrico Macias, hosted Wednesday and Thursday, two music workshops for young Haitian artists from vulnerable neighborhoods in order to encourage the culture of peace and reduction of community violence.

"Singing brings peace because I have never seen a warrior kill while singing," this was the message that passed Enrico Macias to a dozen young Haitian artists. Activities in which he encouraged these young people to work hard to develop their talents and realize their dreams "Believe in what you do. In second place, we must believe in God and exploit the capabilities that it puts in you," because according to him the success" is 10% talent and 90% of work."

He took the opportunity to interpret, at their request, some success in his repertoire including "Malheur à celui qui blesse un enfant", a song that earned him to being named Singer for Peace in 1980 by the Secretary General of the United Nations Kurt Waldheim, after offering to UNICEF the profits from the sale of his single of this famous song.

Let us recall that Enrico Macias, 76 years old, whose real name is Gaston Ghrenassia, playing guitar since childhood, since the beginning of 60' he travels the world with his hit songs and his inseparable guitar. In 1997, the Secretary-General Kofi Annan appointed him Goodwill Ambassador for Peace and child advocacy.
