Haiti - Justice : Swearing in of a new member of the CSPJ

Wednesday to Frères, President Michel Martelly, attended the swearing-in ceremony of Me Patrice Cadet (current president of the Bar of Petit-Goâve), as a new member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).

The Head of State, assisted by Me Jules Cantave, Head of the Judiciary and the President of the Senate Jules Cantave, Head of the Judiciary and the President of the Senate gave act of the swearing in of Me Cadet, under the Law of 13 November 2007 establishing the CSPJ. The ceremony was attended by Me Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Me Carlos Hercules, President of the Federation of Bar Associations of Haiti.

The President Martelly formulated his wishes of full success to Me Cadet in fulfilling its mission. "I rely on your invaluable contribution to the revitalization of the Council."

For his part, Me Patrice Cadet, while thanking the Head of State for his efforts for the independence of the judiciary, has promised to respond effectively to the diverse needs of the institution.

Recall that Me Cadet, was elected by the Assembly of Bar Presidents in office and must complete the remainder of the term of his predecessor Me Jacques Letang that leaves the CSPJ due to the end of his term as president of the Bar of the Coteaux.

Moreover, the day before, at the Plaza Hotel, 56 Peace judges of the various courts of the country, proceeded to the election of their representative to the CSPJ. It is the holding judge of the Peace Court of Delams, Jean Etienne Mercier, who had previously served for 3 years, which was re-elected with 46 votes out of 56.
