OPL will file a complaint against the President of the CEP

According to Hervé Saintilus, the Departmental Coordinator West of the Struggling People's Organization (OPL) his party will file a complaint against Pierre Louis Opont, the President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) for refusing to answer the summons of the OPL, for he explains his statements he had made about the outcome of the last elections, which would not have been consistent according to his statements. According to the Coordinator of OPL, given the position of Mr. Opont at CEP, such statements call for explanation, stating that the OPL only awaits the signature of the former Senator Yvelt Chery to file the complaint this week at Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince and force Pierre Louis Opont to explain the meaning of his statements...

Spending limits for candidates

To ensure a fair balance between the competitors, a spending limit has been established in the Electoral Decree in section 135.1, for each level of electoral Assembly.

Spending limit:

For the candidate for President of the Republic, a hundred million gourdes Gdes 100 million);

For the candidate for Senator, twenty million gourdes (Gdes 20 million);

For a candidate for deputy, one million five hundred thousand gourdes (Gdes 1,500,000);

For the cartel to the position of Mayor, one million gourdes (Gdes 1,000,000);

For a cartel to the position of CASEC two hundred and fifty thousand gourdes (Gdes 250,000);

For a candidate for ASEC, hundred thousand gourdes (Gdes 100,000).

CEP face a logistical challenges

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has to face a logistical challenges in managing this year 3 elections to elect a new President, 20 senators, 118 deputies, three members from each of the 142 municipalities, 570 communal sections, and an undefined number of city delegates, the members of 142 municipal assemblies, 570 ASEC, 10 Councils and Assemblies Departmental an Interdepartmental Council.

Primary of the OPL

The National Coordinator of the party, Struggling People's Organization (OPL) won largely the first primary election held in Miami with 39 votes out of 52 delegates present. Primary will continue in the departments of West Southeast where 500 delegates will vote on the choice of their representatives in the presidential election between : Sauveur Pierre Etienne, former Senator Edgar Leblanc and Senators Francisco Delacruz and Anick Joseph. The presidential candidate should be announced the last Sunday of April.
