Haiti - Technology : Workshop on Renewable Energy

Tuesday, April 28, as part of a project funded by the European Union (EU) called "Frameworks, Policy and instruments for mobilizing Renewable Energy in the Caribbean" the Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CaPRI) will organize in Petionville, a workshop on Renewable Energy in Haiti.

This workshop will bring together a team of experts of CaPRi, representatives of public and private sector as well as investors in the renewable energy sector, which will bring their contributions on current issues surrounding the use of renewable energy in Haiti.

The workshop will present a certain number of relevant and constructive information, including a technological assessment tool [an online calculator] allowing the private sector first to measure and evaluate the cost of renewable energy systems to meet their needs and secondly to develop a database to identify funding sources available and required for projects of Renewable Energy. Policy makers will also have access to information tools to help analyze the current and future programs on these energy sources.

The workshop will include a practical session using the technological tools and also include presentations by: Dr. Damian King, Head of the University of the West Indies Economic Department, Kingston, Jamaica, Fritz Octave of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Dr. René Jean Jumeau and Dr. Evenson Calixte of Quisqueya University, Dr. Berg Hyacinthe of the State University of Haiti and Nicolas Allien of the Cell Energy to the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications...
