Haiti - Elections : Open Letter to the President of the CEP

In an open letter to Pierre Louis Opont, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), dated 4 April 2015 Jeantel Joseph, President of the National Consortium of Political Parties (CNPPH #118) demand the modification of the registration date for presidential and territorial communities.

Recall that the registration period, according to the electoral timetable, runs from 4 to 24 May in anticipation of territorial elections, scheduled Sunday, October 25, 2015 (together with the 2nd round of the legislative and the first round of presidential elections) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13770-haiti-news-electoral-zapping.html

Extract from the letter of CNPPH :

"Considering that the compact nature of the electoral timetable in effect creates a 'traffic jam' at the public administration; and that the majority of citizens wish to participate in the next elections fail to bring all the documents required by the Electoral Decree, despite their clear desire to meet the deadline;

Considering that some citizens who served the country both at the level of local authorities, public administration and the central government have not to date received the 'discharge' of their management;

Considering that it is impossible to register candidates for Local Government in due time by the electoral calendar;

Considering that the Provisional Electoral Council you lead, Mr. President is the result of a patriotic consensus among the political parties, civil society and public authorities and it is your duty to prioritize under all circumstances the dialogue to avoid chaos;

Therefore, the Office of the National Consortium of Political Parties Haitians ask you and urge you to extend the date of registration. Especially, the delay observed in the publication of the list of approved candidates demonstrates the inapplicability of the timetable."
