Haiti - Social : The Government is preparing to receive Haitians deported after June 17

The Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) held earlier this week in the premises of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), the first multi-sectoral meeting on reception preparations of deportations of Haitians living in an irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic, that will not have been accepted into the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE), set up by Dominican authorities (ending June 17, 2015), as well as the denationalized Haitians, victims of the judgment TC 168-13 of the Dominican Constitutional Tribunal and that have been unable to regain their Dominican citizenship.

It was Robert Labrousse, the Minister of MHAVE who chaired the meeting. Several members of the government including Fresnel Dorcin, Minister of Agriculture, Rothchild François Jr., Minister of Communication, Ms. Yves Rose Myrtil Morquette, Minister for Gender and the Rights of Women and the Secretary of State for Public Security took part in the meeting.

Other personalities representing the National Office of Migration, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Directorate of Potable Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), the National Archives of Haiti (ANH), the Directorate Immigration and Emigration (DIE), the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Works also participated in the exchange.

This was to reflect on a contingency plan, able to coordinate the deportations of Haitian citizens in the Dominican Republic and to welcome in humane conditions, repatriated citizens. This plan will be presented to partners by the end of this week.
