Haiti - Social : Demonstration in Port-au-Prince, 2 injured

The incident occurred last Friday outside the Ministry of Education when agents of the National police force of Haiti (PNH) have used tear gas to disperse demonstrators who demanded loudly but peacefully, a better school policy. A professor of mathematics and another citizen were injured during the police intervention.

Professor, Member of the coordination of the "Union Nationale des Normaliens Haïtiens" (UNNOH) was rushed to the hospital. As for the citizen, slightly wounded in the head, he said he had come to the ministry, search for a document and it was not part of the event.

Joshua Merilien, coordinator of UNNOH, accused the PNH to use excessive violence, protesters also criticized the attitude of brutal police saying it will not stop their claims, and that they will not be let intimidate by these violent repressions.

The coordinator of INNOH has demanded justice for the injured and accused the Ministry to issue orders to brutalize the protesters, adding that he will be present with people in several IDP camps to participate in a demonstration to be held next Tuesday in Port-au-Prince.
